2007 Eastern Canadian Free Jumping Championship

Fifth Annual Free Jumping Competition

The KingRidge Stables Eastern Canadian Free Jumping Championship will be held on Sunday April 22, 2007 at the Orangeville Fairgrounds. The competition is jointly organized by the Hanoverian Breeders Club of Eastern Canada and the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association and the sponsor of the competition is KingRidge Stables.

The competition is open to three and four year olds who are in a recognized registry. The competition will be limited to the first 35 horses to be entered. An entry form is available on the web at:  www.hanoverianbreedersclub.com or at: www.canadianwarmbloods.com.

The three year old class will begin about 9:30-10:00 a.m. depending on the number of entries. There will be a break for lunch which will be available at a reasonable cost at a lunch bar in the Agriplex building where the competition will be held. A map to locate the Orangeville Fairgrounds can be found at:  www.orangevillefairgrounds.ca or maps here.

The four year old class will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the competition should be finished with our Champion and Reserve Champion announced by about 3:30-4:00 p.m.

This competition has attracted large audiences in each of the last three years. Many of the horses entered are for sale and the competition is becoming known as a great place to scout out 3 and 4 year old jumpers.  Many of the entries in the last three years have gone on to do very well in the OHJA Jumper Development series for 4, 5 and 6 year olds. So serious breeders of jumpers should consider entering their 3 and 4 year olds as it is great experience for a young horse, the breeder gains independent information about the horse’s jumping talent and whether the horse is for sale or not it is great exposure. Several horses at Canada’s Elite Warmblood Sale have been in the competitions and their placings were noted and I think bidders responded with higher prices for those performance horses.

The class prize money is 1st place $100, 2nd place $75 and 3rd place $50. The Hanoverian Breeders Club of Eastern Canada also offers $100 for the top placing Hanoverian.
