Performance Record: Rhythm & Blues is a gorgeous true black Dutch Warmblood stallion. R&B was born on Easter Sunday in 1998. In 2001 he was granted Star status at his Dutch keuring in Holland & in 2002 R&B completed his stallion performance testing in Prussendorf, Germany with excellent scores. He received 9's in 'Character', 'Ability to Work', and 'Cross Country Jumping' and an 8.33 in 'Free Jumping'. At his 2006 RPSI stallion inspection he was given a 9.0 for his 'Canter'. To date, R&B is one of the only approved sons of the great sire Ferro standing in the United States. R&B has excellent rideability and trainability. A relatively young stallion, he is already accomplished in dressage, jumping, and eventing. Just as his sire Ferro and damsire Argus, R&B excels in both jumping and dressage. His sire Ferro started his show career as a successful jumper and then settled into dressage; R&B is now doing the same. He is a talented, skillful and scopey jumper with three good gaits and a light front/powerful hind for dressage. R&B inherited his sire's suppleness, uphill movement & natural ability for lateral work. Ferro is known for passing on his powerful hindquarters (& his ability to 'sit') and strong compact frame. R&B certainly has inherited these traits and reliably passes them on to his offspring. R&B began his performance career with Three-Day Eventing. As a 5 yr old R&B was undefeated in the Young Horse competitions in Australia. He scored 79% in the Six year old test. In 2003 he was 1st Place 2nd Level test 2 with 72.6% and 4th Place (out of 25)3rd Level test 3 with 65+%. 1st Place in first Three-Day Event Prelim 4C: 89.25% Dressage Phase (4 scores of '10' & 11 scores of '9'). 1st Place in 2nd Competition. In June 2005 R&B started his Jumper career with 2nd Place at Level 6 and 4th Place in both Mini-Prix and Mini-Prix II at the Swan Lake Jumper Classic (his first Jumper show). November 2005: 1st Place & Grand Champion Raleigh Classic. February 2006: Ocala Winter HITS Level 4 Jumper Grand Champion, Level 5 Jumper 3rd & 4th Place. June 2006: Upperville Colt & Horse Show Level 4 Grand Champion. July 2006: Culpeper HITS 4th Place. R&B's jumper training/competing ended in Spring 2007 at Level 6. As a testament to his dual abilities, R&B continued to train in dressage throughout his jumper career. In November 2007 R&B began training in Canada with dressage rider/trainer Jasmine Létourneau. In 2010 R&B will begin working with a new trainer/rider (see website). He is currently showing PSG and schooling GP movements. Breeding/Progeny Record: R&B foals are very correct, showing uniformity in their attractively formed heads, short well muscled backs, and excellent loin connections & hind ends. Offspring are beautifully harmonious and solid in build, yet refined. Just as their sire, they show great aptitude for both Jumping and Dressage. Offspring show athleticism and brilliant, smooth movement in all three gaits. R&B offspring have great presence & intelligence and are affectionate and eager to please.
