2006 Stallion Licensing, Mare Inspection and Foal Futurity - Results

With gorgeous sunny skies, and a slightly cooler day, Riverside Stables was a great venue to host this year's National Tour. Many thanks to owner Linda English for her sponsorship of this event. Also kudos to Sandy Alexander & Lisa Poirier for the set up of the facility over the previous week ... chute ready to go, the Grand Prix field mowed and the triangle set ,as well as a jumping course for stallions doing the Riding Horse Test.

Of 7 stallions presented, 3 were licensed including the BC Licensing Champion Stallion, von Burggraaf (Burggraaf x Neloma, Ahorn) owned by Ed Bowerman and presented beautifully by Eliza Hunt. The dam was imported in-foal. von Burggraaf is very much a jumping specialist as his pedigree would suggest, and earned 9's for his jumping scope and technique and for his walk. His owverall score of 7.78 places him as the top stallion in Canada of the 2006 Tour. Congratulations.

Also licensed were:

<< Formation, a 3 year old Canadian Warmblood by Formaat out of Ovation by Consul, owned and bred by Shawn Bruins-Slot of Rafter 5 Ranch, Kamloops. Photos by Southern Designs.

Mare Inspection & Foal Futurity
Judges: Eve Mainwaring, Colleen Embree Jay, Joan Moore.

Champions of both the Mare Inspection and the 2006 BC Foal Futurity were the mare and foal combination presented by Su Bright of Shamrock Farm in Aldergrove. Her home bred NA/WPN mare, Promise of Peace, by Idocus out of Jontue ster by Nebelhorn was awarded a premium. Her stunning colt, Inner Peace, by the CWHBA entered Dutch stallion Ikoon, was a show stopper with his elegant look and super movement.

Reserve Mare Champion was awarded to the entry of Bob & Kirsten Tapella, Phancy, registered NA/WPN by Consul out of Santana. Phancy was also a premium mare. Interestingly, Consul is the dam's sire of the newly licensed Formation, above. Phancy's 2006 filly by Rafaello, Rieslynd, took the Reserve Champion ribbon and cheque. Congratulations all.

Special thanks to Sara Alberni and her student, Jenna, who capably ran the office and set up the lunch for judges, workers and participants alike. Thank you also to everyone else who helped and to those who came to watch and learn.
