Everyone is welcome to come and check out the foals and developing young horses!
May 2011 - The SK Chapter BBQ at Jumping Hills Farm, (Vanessa Senko/Vince Ethier), Prince Albert, May 7th was a resounding great time! Dave Morch, certified farrier, gave an excellent talk, and really stressed that he believes that we should NOT be competitively jumping our 3 and 4 year olds. He is seeing a lot of low and high ringbone in horses with this work background. He did say that with protective boots, etc. that free jumping is probably a natural and fun event for the youngsters.
Dominique St. Amand was our auctioneer, and he really pulled the audience to their feet with bids and laughter going round!! The high price dessert was cheesecake, crafted by Apex, for $150.00, Jodi's cheesecake was a winner too at $105.00 and bought back by her husband for Mother's Day enjoyment. Pelmac cookes we believe averaged out to $10.00 a cookie! Thank you to all our great bakers and dessert designers! And of course to the successful bidders, many have come annually to bid on their favourite dessert!!
Supper was great with a ton of homemade salads, beans, and burgers BBQ'd by the Chairman of our Region's Health District Board, Gord Doborowsky and host Vince Ethier. Thank You gentlemen.
Then, the fun really began....over an hour of side splitting, irreverant comedy and cowboy poetry from John Rutz of Makwa. (NW Saskatachewan). Thank you Dianne and George Million for bringing us this fine man's talent. Thank you John for being the greatest entertainer. John was a huge supporter too, he paid $60.00 for Val's apple tart, plus his dinner ticket! The fun rolled till just after 11. Many of our out of towners found local accomodation, and I hear tell there is a new cowboy poem in the ofting, due to events at the local country motel that John experienced.
