Langley, BC — The Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association proudly celebrates the continued success of WH Corona, a registered Canadian Warmblood gelding bred by Wachter Horses of Innisfail, Alberta. Partnered with longtime rider Carla Diewert, WH Corona claimed his second consecutive win in the Emily Sandhack Equestrian Realty 1.35m Open Jumper Classic at the Thunderbird Show Park Spring Festival.
The dynamic pair also took top honors in last week’s YETI 1.30m Open Jumper and finished second in the Maui Jim Grand Prix 1.40m, making their recent performances a strong showcase of Canadian Warmblood talent on the West Coast circuit.
On Friday, WH Corona and Diewert topped a competitive six-horse jump-off with a winning time of 37.62 seconds—more than a second ahead of the next finisher. The result highlights not only the rider’s skill but also the agility, heart, and competitiveness that Canadian Warmbloods bring to the sport.
Now 16 years old, WH Corona (Carthago Sun III x Charmeur) has been Diewert’s trusted partner for over a decade. Despite his years of experience, the spirited gelding still shows the enthusiasm and athleticism that define the Canadian Warmblood horse.
“He was just goofing around [before the first fence]. He has his own fun and games sometimes,” Diewert shared with a smile. “But once we’re on course, he knows it’s time to focus.”
WH Corona’s continued success in high-level sport is a testament to the quality of Canadian breeding and the dedication of programs like Wachter Horses. The CWHBA congratulates Carla Diewert and WH Corona on their impressive accomplishments and looks forward to more milestones from this exceptional Canadian Warmblood team.
