A big thank you to all who participated in our Foal Photo Contest. Over 90 pictures of 55 foals born in 2023 were submitted. It is fun to see them all in one place. By random computer generated draw four people each won a $50 gift certificate to buy CWHBA apparel at Land’s End. There were four draws;
April and earlier, May, June, July and later. Winners were Heather Smith, Janine Olsen, Tess Omer and Penny Townsend. See their pictures displayed below and in the Foal Photo Gallery.
Based on artistic and technical merit an additional prize will also be awarded, chosen by professional photographer Peter Llewellyn. His favourite was the photo of FF Shilo an out cross colt, out of the Canadian Warmblood mare Komtessa. Taken by owner breeder Elfi Rank, Peter commented “ Excellent composition, nice clean background, very well exposed image”
Honorable mention went to Penny Townsend for her head shot of unamed filly by Charmeur out of a mare by Sandakan “Caught a nice expression on the foals face and good use of the mare for the background” and to Sandra Corsan for her picture “Meeting Lucy” of her Banderas colt out of a Candillo Jr mare, “Great interaction between dog and foal “.
