Lakota is a 2007 Westfalian registered stallion by Laudabilis out of a Fidermark mare, a dressage pedigree unique to North America.
Laudabilis, is recognized for having three top quality gaits. He produces offspring with long legs, exceptional movement and great rideability. He had a successful show career under Oliver Oelrich and in 2004 placed 3rd at the Bundeschampionate.
Fidermark, one of the most sought after stallions of the Westfalen Studbook, produced 21 licensed sons. He was the reserve champion at the 1994 Westfalen licensing in Munster, Germany and later won the Performance Test with 141.74 points. In 1996 he won the Bundeschampionate in the four year old stallion division under Michael Farwick. Under Marlies Van Baalen he had a very successful dressage career in the small tour and had moved up to the Grand Prix division shortly before his untimely death at 11 years of age.
Lakota also has Jumping lineage that can be traced back to the La Belle / Landino lines.
Lakota was imported from Germany in 2009 as a two year old. He began his riding career over fences showing in the 0.9m division and is now focusing on dressage consistently scoring in the mid 70's in Alberta and last winter on the Florida circuit. He has his father's scopey, elastic gaits and judges typically score his gaits at 8-8.5 on his tests.
Lakota is a playful, friendly stallion who enjoys his work.
